Benson of Broadway is run by James Benson.
He has been cooking since the age of 3 when, as the
family legend goes, he stood on a chair by the stove teaching his Nana how to make 'rivotto' before he could even pronounce
it.
He started his career as a chef at the Goblets Wine
Bar, part of the Lygon Arms, Broadway, whilst studying for his catering NVQ's at Stratford-on-avon College in his spare time.
Charingworth Manor came next before a move back to the Lygon Arms Hotel, where he started his larder apprenticeship.

After the Lygon Arms he worked at the world-renowned Claridge’s
in London, serving Royalty, Politicians, celebrities, and all the rest of the world. Here he specialised in canapes, buffets
and starters, serving all variations of world cuisine to anywhere between 50 and 1000 people a day, all with the super-perfection
that the guests expected.
A place in the semi-finals of the Academy of Culinary Arts Annual
Awards of Excellence, four promotions, two employee of the month awards and an Employee of the Year later it was time for
new things. Back in Broadway…..
